Gujarat Government Cafe is offering free tea and snacks in for bringing plastic wastes
Vadodara: Under the campaign "Swacch Bharat Abhiyan", a cafe is offering tea and snacks for free to those who are bringing plastic wastes. The cafe was set up two days back by the Gujarat panchayat of Dahod district. This was an initiative to propagate the campaign started by the Central Government and it was stated as the first-ever state to initiate such deed for a novel cause.
The 'plastic cafe' which is been set up in Dahod Tehsil Panchayat, is going to give free snacks and tea in exchange for plastic waste. "As per the scheme the person who is going to bring one-kilogram plastic is going to get snacks and tea both and the person who is bringing half a kilogram is going to get only tea as a reward," said the Deputy Development Officer NP Patanwadiya.
The purpose of this initiative is to make tribal-dominated Dahod District 'plastic-free'. These snacks and tea are being prepared by women working under the Gujarat Government's 'Sakhi Mandal' scheme.
Mr. Patanwadiya said 'This plan is working very well from the day it was started. They have collected plenty of plastic garbage that would be sent to recycling stations to reform something else. They have a plan to extend this initiative to other tehsils of Gujarat and other states too if it is a successful thought.
