Man was asked to do marry his daughter to atone the crime of killing a calf

Bhopal: A man, who accidentally killed a calf while riding a two-wheeler, was asked to marry his daughter disregarded of her minor age to atone for the crime. Gram Panchayat of Vidisha district ordered the man to do Kanyadan for repelling the crime of killing a calf on Friday, February 14.

In Madhya Pradesh, People of small villages still follow the social sanctions and orders imposed by Panchayat. They are bound to fulfill the orders to make reparation for the crime like killing calves etc.

In the order of paying off, they need to take a dip into the Ganga River and propel the feast to villagers. Occasionally, they need to do Kanyadaan regardless of the age of the girl. Owing to the fact, they just believe that it is the only way to waive the curse off from the culprit's family.

The In-Charge of Patharia Police Station BD Singh said that the man took a dip in the river and was ready to feed all the relatives and villagers. However, the Panchayat refused for the feast and ordered the culprit to marry his minor daughter instead. The family was pushed to do the same.

The authorities from the Women and Child Development Department arrived and tried to stop the family, as they got the tip of the age of the girl. Family and villagers were resisting and refusing the fact of the girl being minor. Then the team asked for Adhaar Card of the girl and they found she is not even 14 years old yet. Although the case was not registered, said Singh.
