India tends to buy drones and special equipment to avert desert locusts attack on the yearly crops. The government is buying advanced equipment to monitor the movement of locusts and spray insecticides to ward off the insects that could sabotage this year's crops.

Earlier this year, the Indian authorities were able to control the swarm of locusts. However, the upsurge of the insect in the Indian neighboring country 'Pakistan', is growing the concern again for wheat and oilseed crops. These locusts breed in the desert so the border of India-Pakistan is the mainland for procreating these insects.

According to sources," We ensure the availability of insecticides in a large amount still, we are buying drones and sprayers to be ready to deal with an unforeseen attack."

Locust swarm can fly up to 150 km (90 miles) in a day with the wind and an adult locust can consume food roughly of their own weight per day. A small swarm of locust can eat as much as 35,000 people can eat in a day.

Swarms already have caused extensive damage to grazing lands and crops in several countries around the coast of the Indian Ocean. In the east, African countries such as Somalia, Ethiopia, Kenya Eritrea, and Djibouti. Swarms of locust have rolled out to Tanzania, Uganda, and South Sudan too. Pakistan is facing locusts infestation in the last two decades, has declared a national emergency.

Indian authority of food corporation is sending a few officials to gauge the situation in most vulnerable areas of western and northern India. And, ordered local authorities to be prepared for the invasion of the swarm of desert locusts.

In the row of effort, Indian and Pakistani officials have met many times during the decade to review the situation. "We are too monitoring the situation in Pakistan," said an official.

On the asking, If India would help Pakistan in any way to deal with these locusts? An official said, "Pakistan has not asked for the help yet. But, if they ask and our authorities allow, we would supply necessary insecticides as India is already selling needful insecticides to several countries."

"We can shoot up the production of insecticides depends on the demand, We have a large number of production units in other countries too." He added.

Pakistan can overlook on the ban on trading with India to import insecticides. The last major torrent was in 1993 because of the heavy rains, which created suitable conditions for locusts for breeding at the India-Pakistan border.
