Bareilly installs 'Jhumka' in memory of the Song from 'Mera Saya'

The song "Jumka Ghira Re Bareilly Ke Bazaar Main', has been popular from the last 54 years. Finally, Jumka from Bareilly has been found. Bareilly Development Authority has installed a 200 Kilogram (2 Quintal) Jumka at Zero Point of National Highway 24. Jumka is hanged on a 14 feet tall pole and surrounded by beautiful 'Surame Danis'. The intersection where Jumka is installed is named 'Jumka Choraha' which does connect Bareilly to Lakhnow-Delhi Highway. The Jumka can be seen from 200 meters.

The Jumka is made with brass and bronze. It is beautifully embedded with colorful stone and decorated with famous Zarikari embroidery. A group of artists from Gurugram have done this great job and the cost of this project is said to be around 18 lacs.

The Landmark  Jumka was unveiled by Union Minister Mr. Santosh Gangwar. He appreciated the thought and the effort to bring it out. Mr. Gangwar added, it is a collaborative effort of BDA, Artisans, and residents of Bareilly. This Jumka will bring tourists to Bareilly which would help to take tourism graphs of Bareilly at the height. During the inauguration of the 'Jumka Chauraha', Jumkas were distributed to people around as a token of remembrance of the landmark.

Bareilly was famous in 1966 because of the song from movie 'Mera Saya'. Though there is no connection between Jumka and Bareilly. However, tourist comes and look for the famous 'Jumkas' from the song. "We feel disheartened to say this to tourists that Jumkas in Bareilly is not so special than other places. It was just a song, nothing related to anything special here about Jumkas", said a local resident.
A jeweler from Bareilly said," We keep a few different types of jumkas, when a tourist comes and asks for those special jumkas, just for not to disappoint the customer."

Now This Jumka will save the memory of the song and  tourists can associate this Landmark Jumka  to that famous song.
