Student held for making TIkTok in Board Exams in West Bengal
Malda/Kolkata: A 16-year-old student of class X was held on Wednesday for making TikTok video during his English paper of State Board Exams in Malda District, West Bengal and sharing it on social media.
The incident took place at Baidyanathpur High School in Ratua police station area of the Malda District, police said.
The allegation was made that as soon as the exam began, the boy took pictures of three pages of the examination paper while sitting on his seat and edited it on the TikTok app. He added a Bollywood song to it, then posted it on social media.
He will be produced before the District Juvenile Board on Thursday, the police said.
A source from the District Education Department said the examination of the boy has been canceled and he has been expelled.
The claimed to be, the video was circulated among the unlimited number of individuals within an hour of exam.
Parents and other examinees were in a halo about this foolhardy incident. They were questioning the security at the examination centers where
neither teachers nor students could carry any electronic device in the classrooms.
Superintendent of Police Alok Rajoria himself lead a probe into the security lapse at the examination center. Internet services were suspended in areas near the school to prevent any sort of malpractices.
Nonetheless, very few questions in the purported video matched with the original English question paper. The claimed video did not carry the logo of the Board which was supposed to be embossed on the top of the paper, said a source from West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE).
"WBBSE president Kalyanmoy Ganguly will soon meet education minister Partha Chatterjee to discuss the part of the confusion during exams and discredit the board and state government for the same." said the source.
Nearly 10,15,888 students were appearing for the Madhyamik Board Pariksha in West Bengal this year and 5,76,009 were girls among them all.
Last year too, the images of Bengali, English, History, Geography, and Mathematics question paper were shared on social media during exams. The board and education minister Parth Chatterjee both claimed that to be faked and there was no leak of any question paper.
