Fatwa on Singing... what the hell !!
Today I was watching a news channel or more I should say a senseless debate/discussion channel. I am calling them "senseless" because on these channel they don't really debate in a healthy way, like it should be, they actually squabble without listening to each other.
Seven people were debating (including hosts, people from human right/NGOs, a muslim social activist and two higher authorities of muslim community) on Fatwa issued against 16 years old girl, a muslim singer by 46 Muslim Clerics in Assam.
I was shocked by this news. We are living in modern era where everyone, with their talent, get good opportunities to perform and let 'the world' know them. If any means of entertainment is against Sharia Law like theater or drama or dance than why no Fatwa was issued to any actor of our TV and Film Industry. Countless muslims are working in entertainment industry or many of them are actually ruling the Industry. So are they going against their Law? Why are they targeting this girl who wants to polish her own talent and trying for her big dream to come true. Just because she is a girl ?!?
Even though it's not binding anyone to follow, but people in muslim community are forced to follow and practice such kind of "opinions" (or you can say "rules" ). They don't dare to go against higher authorities of the community in fear of getting boycotted from their community. Very few people dare to fight for their dream. She is one of them and we as human (first) should support her in her fight.
People should be aware that they are not forced to follow muslim law, if it is becoming unreasonable in any aspect. Indian Laws are superior than other community/personal laws. Victims can ask for protection and justice. At last I just want to tell that you (people) please stop being so orthodox. Let women become independent and strong enough to choose how they want to live their lives. We talk about women empowerment a lot in long discussion groups or on TV. Lets try to support and cherish them to follow their dreams.
It's not only about muslim community, it's about women of the whole wide world.

FATWA is a non-binding but an authoritative legal opinion given by a qualified jurist or Mufti on issues pertaining to the Islamic Law or Muslim Law.They say,"singing, dancing, magic or any kind of entertainment is against Sharia Law. Events like musical show will corrupt next generation and they will face God's indignation."
